This is the most common misconception when it comes to straightening your teeth. Many people believe that wisdom teeth cause pressure, and push everything forward, and hence the front teeth get overlapped.
This is clearly logical thinking, because you will feel pressure when the wisdom teeth come out, and at the same kind of time, your front teeth (which were once perfectly straight), now start to get a little uneven!
There have been lots of studies into if this is actually the case, but the most convincing is when people looked at the 10% of people who never develop wisdom teeth – and guess what – even these people, who once had straight teeth, got some tooth overlap at roughly the age when wisdom teeth were set to develop.
The mouth is always changing, and if teeth do start to move, they can be moved back (in most cases).
