Complex Dental Implant Treatment
“It seems simple, just put an implant in… But this is the hardest implant treatment I know”
What we did:
Teeth Straightening to Align the teeth
Straumann Dental Implant to replace the missing tooth
Porcelain Veneers for the front 4 teeth
The goal here was to create a stunning looking smile, but in this case, my patient had a dark front tooth. The problem was that the teeth had been damaged with a hard knock many years ago.
This caused the tooth to stop developing, and actually develop a cyst (but not a nasty type) at the top of the tooth.
We only found this out after we did our initial assessment.
We staged the treatment in 3 phases:
Phase 1: remove the bad tooth (and cyst)
Phase 2: Straighten the teeth with braces
Phase 3: Place the dental implant and smile design with porcelain veneers.
To make sure the patient was never without a front tooth, we used a long term temporary tooth while the braces were working.
When you lose a tooth, it is very likely that some bone and gum volume will be lost. This will make the teeth look terrible if we ignore it, so we carried out a gum graft while we placed the dental implant. We let it heal, and then we made 4 porcelain veneers for the front 4 teeth to create that perfect smile.
